Yarbo Weather Protection: A Better Place to Park and Charge
Yarbo is an all-season robotic platform, but most of its time is not spent mowing or clearing snow. Between work cycles, the robot returns to the same outdoor charging area and remains exposed in one position for hours.
A dedicated garage adds protection where exposure is most continuous: directly above the parked robot and docking station.
Compatibility note: The Möbius Garage is designed for Yarbo with the lawn mower module. It is not suitable for Yarbo with the Snow Blower / snow thrower module attached, because that configuration has different dimensions and operating requirements.
Direct sun and UV exposure
In states such as Florida, Texas, Arizona and California, the charging area may receive strong sun for many hours. A roof can provide shade and help reduce direct UV exposure on upward-facing surfaces while Yarbo is parked.
The garage must remain ventilated. Closing the robot inside a small structure to create shade could also trap heat. Möbius uses an open-sided design that combines overhead coverage with natural airflow.
Rain and falling water
An overhead roof provides an additional barrier against direct rainfall. It does not turn the docking station into an indoor environment, and wind-driven rain can still enter an open structure. Good placement and site drainage therefore remain important.
The objective is sensible additional protection, not a claim that the robot will never become wet.
Leaves, dirt and bird droppings
Falling leaves, seeds, dust and bird droppings can collect on a robot parked in the same location every day. A garage roof intercepts part of this debris and can make the parking area easier to manage. Periodic cleaning is still required.
Snow and cold-climate installations
In northern states, a roof can reduce the amount of snow falling directly onto the parked robot and dock. However, drifting snow can enter from the sides and accumulate around the approach path. Owners must keep the docking area clear and follow Yarbo’s operating and storage requirements for the relevant module and weather conditions.
The shelter should never obstruct the snow-removal route or the robot’s ability to leave the dock.
One design for different American climates
The same design principles apply in different regions:
- Hot and sunny climates: prioritize shade and open ventilation.
- Humid and rainy climates: prioritize drainage, airflow and corrosion-resistant construction.
- Wooded properties: reduce falling debris and maintain easy cleaning access.
- Snow regions: preserve a wide approach and inspect snow accumulation and anchors.
